Dr Sanjeeva (Sam) Herath is a General Physician and Nephrologist who has been supporting the Bega Valley since 2020.

Dr Herath is working at South East Regional Hospital and Sapphire Coast Cardiology & Specialists. Sam completed his medical education at the University of Otago in New Zealand and undertook basic and advanced physician training in nephrology at St George Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. He holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales, with a thesis in nephroprotection in ischaemia-reperfusion injury. 

As a specialist, Sam has worked with regional communities in the Pilbara, Hunter New England, and Bega. He is committed to providing exceptional care for patients across the Bega Valley.
